Outlook 2003 Attachments

When I receive emails with attachments, double clicking or rightclick - open
gives me the following message: "The sysem cannot find the file specified".
If I save the attachment to the drive it opens ok. The fault occurs with all
file types.

Brian,
Thanks for your response. I had previously purged the outlook secure temp
folder several time based on advice from other treads. I had actually
installed the outlook tool from your link and used it to do some housekeeping
and error checking on outlook, but unfortunately no change. I haven't moved
the folder though, could you expand on that one pls.
Cheers

You can change the registry key that controls the location of the Outlook
Secure Temp folder. Moving it to, say, some folder under My Documents may
make it easier to manage and less prone to issues.

Hi Brian
It has just come to my attention on reading your last reply that the OLK
folder is sitting directly in the C drive root directory. From previous
versions of outlook I seem to recall it was located within my profile. Could
this be the issue as outlook may be looking for it in the wrong place?

Hi again
Further to my last post I tried moving the OLK file into my profile under
"C:\Documents and Settings\userprofile\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook"
and it seems to have resolved the problem. Many thanks for you help, it was
much appreciated as this has been a frustrating issue for some weeks now.
Cheers

It doesn't matter where the secure temp folder resides. It will reside
whenever the registry says it resides. Moving it to another location in the
file system doesn't change the registry so Outlook will recreate it wherever
the registry key points.

I forgot ot include it but I did in fact modify the registry too.

I would have simply changed the registry and allowed Outlook to create a new
secure temp folder, rather than moving the contents of the existing one.
The data in it is, after all, temporary and is intended to be deleted.
