Outlook 2003: Automatic send / receive schedule and IMAP accounts

Hi,

I have created a send/receive group for some IMAP accounts. Basically I want
to check these accounts quite rarely - e.g. once every 2 hours.
Everything works just fine until I get a first e-mail. Since I open it,
every new e-mail in the account shows instantly. Which is not what I want,
cause I do not want these accounts to distract me more than every two hours.
Is there any solution to this problem (bug I suppose)?

Thanks a lot,
Bart

When you open an IMAP folder, Outlook will populate the local copy with all
the other messages in the folder. I don't think there's much you can do about
that.

OK, and that's not a problem. But then I go to my main Inbox (all POP
accounts). Next, if any new message arrives in the IMAP folder, I get
instant "new message" notification, regardless of the Send / Receive
schedule.

I would like to get new mail notification every 2 hours, not everytime new
message arrives.

Is it possible to "close" the IMAP folder, so that next new message check is
on schedule (as opposed to notification everytime new e-mail arrives)?

Thanks,
Bart

Frankly, I don't use IMAP that often to answer definitively. I do have an
IMAP account defined, but I exclude it from the send/receive group. I never
see new messages in it unless I open its Inbox. I never receive
notifications.
