Outlook 2003 - Built-in spam filter and pseudo-Microsoft spam

A

A Ratcliffe

Gradually getting used to the quirks of the new Outlook 2003 spam filter,
but I have one or two questions/problems.

A)
Although it spots that a lot of them are spam, I am still having to delete
many of the pseudo-Microsoft Patch Update messages which still end up in my
Inbox. Barring the fact that I am surprised that Microsoft didn't do their
utmost to ensure that it never got considered 'non-spam' (after all its
using their own name as the means of tricking people), does anyone know of a
good set of rules to deal with them? I cannot rely on the size rule that
I've seen mentioned elsewhere, because I get large emails from other sources
as well.

B)
Much of my spam is moved to the junk folder based on a domain BL I
downloaded and imported. I'd be happy anything blocked on that basis to be
deleted directly, but I can't see any way to specify Blocked Senders List as
a condition in a 'Delete Message' rule (whilst allowing other junk to pass
to the junk folder so I can check for false-positives).

C)
I thought the big thing about the new spam-filter was that it was designed
to analyse statistically, and also learn (I assume they are using a Bayesian
variant). Unfortunately, I see no way of training it. If I Mark a junked
email as non-junk, it just offers to create a Safe Sender entry (although it
could be doing more in the background). But there seems to be no way to do
the reverse - mark an e-mail as junk so the filter can update its analysis
data. I end up either doing a permanent delete on the offending items, or
dragging them to the junk folder and dealing with them there (via permanent
delete normally)

Thanks in advance for any help. My apologies for the long-winded post.

Yours,

Ann-Marie Ratcliffe
