outlook 2003 calendar items sent to outlook 2000 are received garbled

whenever I send outlook 2003 calendar item to someone
using outlook 2000, the items is received garbled/looks
like the source code is received.
any ideas

To work around this behavior, omit the meeting reminder from the
appointment when you submit a meeting request from an
Outlook 2002 client to Outlook 2000 clients.
