Outlook 2003 calendar reminder icons missing

One one user's Outlook 2003 calendar, all of the reminder icons are replaced
with small boxes (or, possibly, just a "o" character). I had just updated
this SP2 installation to SP3. Have searched the MS knowledge base, Google
too, and cannot find any info on restoring/repairing the icons. Did perform
an inplace repair (no effect). Anyone know how to restore the reminder icons?
