[Outlook 2003] Cannot send email but settings tested properly

Sean Dalziel

Hi all,

One of my clients purchased a new Dell Dimension 4600 with Microsoft
Office Small Business Edition and it came with Outlook 2003.

I registered Outlook - set up the Business Card option
Loaded Norton Anti Virus 2003
Set up his account
Tested the settings
Imported his PST file from his old laptop
Then tried to test the email aspect by sending his account an email
and CCing my email address.

He was able to receive the test email from the Account Setup "Test
Settings" button. Yet, he did not receive the message that we created
manually. I did not receive a test message sent by him either.

But I could send an email to him from my account and he would receive
it.

We are using a POP mail server.

Please help,

Sean Dalziel

Thanks for the reply Eric.

I was able to solve this problem. It was related to the Junk Mail
option in Outlook 2003. If you go into the Junk Mail Settings in the
Options window you must UNCHECK the option to trust addresses in your
contact list.

So the answer is "Yes, we do not want any bananas." :)

Regards,
Sean
