Outlook 2003 Can't Find Server

I run Windows XP and Office 2003 and recently had to install Word 2000 for a
client project. I inadvertently installed all of Office 2000, and when I
uninstalled it (through Add/Remove Programs) Outlook 2003 can no longer find
the mail server. All the port , server, login and other information is
correct in Email Accounts settings, and the test message completes
successfully. I can view the incoming mail through my hosting service's web
access and I see the test message, but I can't find a way to make Outlook
connect to the server. Any ideas?

You should start by creating a new mail profile. What you say you did
usually has bad effects on the mail profile.

Brian, thanks for the help. I created a new profile and even new a e-mail
account in the new profile, and I still can't get Outlook to connect. Would
repairing or reinstalling Windows help at all?

I don't think repairing or reinstalling Windows would help, unless you
completely wipe the current installation and start over. Have you tried
using Help>Detect and Repair from any Office program?
