This is not referrning to Outlook Express which I assume you are referring
to given your other post with Gordon. This is an entirely different issue
and there is little anyone can provide you without some semblance of knowing
what you are doing as Gordon has requested several times.
As for the specific problem originally addressed in this message thread - no
additional has been provided so any additional response is pure speculation
and a waste of time for all concerned especially since no one knows if the
problem got resolved or not by following the steps originally suggested.
The rest of this really belongs in the original thread related to your OE
issue (to which Gordon is replying to) so please respond there with any
additional info:
#1 - There are many webpages on the microsoft site and the URL you provided
showed as being invalid (MS web pages do not start with
<microsoft.com/.....> and what you pasted in
<microsoft.com/outlook/HA010943871003.aspx> comes up as an invalid page with
or without the leading http://
#2 - Importing from OE in Outlook requires entering the correct OE account -
a multitude of steps you have not listed as being done nor have you
identified if your OE install has mutliple accounts etc
#3 - Outlook does import to an AddressBook - it imports to a contact folder
which needs to be added to the AddressBook but your previous messages state
that 0 records were imported which indicates that a) you don't have any
contacts in OE or b) you're using the wrong OE account - hence potential of
no contacts.
In any case, without specific info as to what you are referring to AND have
specifically done - any solutions as to cause would be nothing more than
"lucky guesses" (<general> descriptions do NOT suffice nor are people going
to spend hours trying to figure out what steps exactly you're following). Am
sure if you provide Gordon with the info he has requested - he will be able
to provide some answers (and/or others may also be inclined to chime in
offer ideas if there is remotely enough info to comment on).
Lest you think this response reply is harsh (not intended) - just think how
frustrated both parties would be with the following exchange (far too many
people take far too much for granted in explanations (or lack thereof) when
requesting trouble-shooting assistance).
Problem: "I ran into a problem following all the steps listed on the page
that relates to this in the manual . It doesn't work - why isn't the program
working?
Reply: "Follow the steps found on the page in the manual that has the answer
to your question - it will all work."
