Outlook 2003 Contacts issue-in correct eamil address

Rosh

Hi,

Has anyone come across this issue? At one site, one staff is having problems
with using outlook 2003 contacts. She doesn’t use Global Address List.

When she add’s a new user in her contacts, the address is shown as below.
"/o=DomainName/ou=First Administrative Group/cn= ..."

The new user [eg Lyndene) is already in the GAL, but staff Ms X is trying to
add Lyndene in her Contacts list, and is sucessful, but the display is crap
as shown in the image below;

When you open that contact, the email address appears correct, i.e
(e-mail address removed)

This has been driving me nuts. If you have a solution, please help. i have
already tried a few things such as deleting contacts and creating a new one,
deleting a user from ad, and crEating again, checked email type in exchange
2003[ sp2], and it's set to SMTP as primary.

Please email details to: (e-mail address removed)

many thanks

How did she add the contact, if not from the GAL?

If she double-clicks on the contact's email address, what does she see?

1) Create a new contact, by going into the contacts, and entering the details
such as name, display name, emial address.
We have also tried this measure. Open an email from the contact[lyndene],
right click lyndene's name from the sender's section, and selecting add to
contacts. then open the contacts, details are ok, but same shows as on

2) When double clikcing the contact, the contact opens in the contacts page,
displaying the correct details.

Note: Outlook is not in the cached mode.

That's not what I asked. Open the Contacts record and double-click the
E-mail Address field. What do you see?

A properties dialop box appears for that contact with differnet tabs. In the
email address tab, all the email address are displayed.

Thanks

It appears that you're seeing the contact as it appears in the GAL, then.
I'd say that the Exchange admins haven't set the SMTP mail address field,
then.

But they have a smtp email as their primary email address, when looking into
the account email properties.

I have initially setup the account. Is there any other step if i missed,
when crating this smtp email address.

In Exchange?

I'm not an Exchange Admin, but where I work, when you examine a person's GAL
entry, there's an "E-mail Addresses" tab with an "SMTP" entry in it. I've
seen the situation when this isn't defined that the X.500 address shows when
adding the person to a DL. I've also seen the SMTP address get changed to
the X.500 address when clicking the "Update Now" button in the DL even if
there is an SMTP address defined.
