Outlook 2003 Contcts not showing in Address Book

A

Al in Colorado

All of my email addresses are in my contact file but not reflected in my
address book. When I click on a name in contcts, the properties fields are
empty. When I try request properties, I get an error message that says
Property Dialog Box could not be displayed. An invalid ENTRYID was passed
in. Any solution?

List the steps you used to corrupt your address book service or electronic
addresses. This doesn't just happen all by itself. There is more to your
story. How to fix it depends on how you broke it.

Thanks for your response! I have no idea what happened. I went to send an
email one day, and when I clicked on my addresses, I got the error message.
I went into my contacts and found that the addresses were there, but when I
lookled for the properties. All of the fields were blank. Hope you can help!

Start at the beginning then:
1. What information store are you using--Exchange mailbox or a local data
(PST) file?
2. Did you do anything that would affect that data store, like importing
data, using an Outlook add-in, or synchronizing with a PDA?
3. Do you back up your data?

You say that "all the addresses were there" but also say "all of the fields
were blank." That makes no sense. Clarify what you mean.

I will try to answer your questions. I am not an Outlook whiz.
1. My storage is a PST file. I also have my addresses in Earthlink. Maybe
I could copy them back from there.

2. Not that I know of.

3. Yes I back up my data file regularly.

Addresses: When I click contacts. All of my contacts come up. In each box
is the name of the contact on the first line. The email address is on the
second line. In some boxes there are as many as three address lines. When I
click on the address line, the entire address is there. When I click on the
name and the properties box comes up. The name is in the box, but no email
addresses. This didn't make sense to me either.

In thinking this through, I remember that I recently used scanpst to correct
a access error to Outlook. Could this cause the problem, and/or correct the
problem if I did it again?

How do I sync my data?

Could Earthlink help me in any way?

I am really lost.

No. I was not suggesting that you should sync your data. I was asking if you
did because faulty sync software is a common cause for this problem.
So is importing Contact data.
As it is, the "rest of the story" that I asked for is starting to surface.
The error you encountered and what you did to correct it is the likely cause
of your problem. If you can't remember what that was, then the most likely
way to correct your problem will be to create a new Outlook profile from
scratch and configure it to use the last known good backup of your Outlook
data file.
