Outlook 2003 converted my contact folders to email folders...

Hello,

I have Outlook 2003 Professional running on Exchange
Server 5.5. I have three contact folders for seperate
groups. Recently I was moving these contact folders
around and one of them got "converted" to an email
folder. The icon for the folder is just a folder as
opposed to a contact icon. It took each contact and put
the name, address, phone, and email address into the body
of an email inside of this folder. I can't seem to figure
out what I did wrong or how to reverse the process.
Basically, I moved the three folders from them mailbox to
the inbox and then back out to the mailbox folder.

If anyone can help in any way if would be greatly
appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi Ben,

You have several options.

First, I would use the /resetfolders switch. All you have to do is type "Outlook.exe \resetfolders" in the
Run line. If you are clear on how to use the swtich, then review the article below even though it is not for
Outlook 2003.

Second, you could also export all items in that corrupted folder and import them into a new contact
folder. If you have to do this, I would recommend that you just export all items in your current .pst file
and import into another .pst file to ensure any corruption is lost. If the items are still email items, then
specifically export those items to a .csv file and import them back into a contacts folder. (Make sure
the fields are mapped correctly.)
