Outlook 2003: Ctrl + A for Select All No Longer Working

Hi everyone,

Recently the keyboard shortcut CTRL + A to select all mail items in a folder
has stopped working. Checking around on google I found that CTRL + SHIFT +
ENTER should perform the same operation, however on my Outlook this opens the
reading pane! If I use CTRL + A with the pane open, then the preview pane
closes!

What on earth have I done to my outlook? :(
