Outlook 2003 Design Flaw – Other User’s Deleted Items Folder

Hi,

We discovered a design flaw with Outlook 2003. SP2 is applied.
When connected to another user’s mailbox, and DRAGGING an item from the
other user’s Inbox to the other user’s Deleted Items, the item is not placed
in the other user’s Deleted Items. It actually goes to the primary user’s
own Deleted Items folder. In Outlook 2002, this did not occur. In that
version, dragging an item from another user’s Inbox to that user’s Deleted
Items put that item in the other user’s Deleted Items.

We have tested this on serveral installations and serveral mailboxes, always
with the same results. All mailboxes are on the same Exchange Server.

Is this a known issue? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

You didn't say anything about the permissions on that folder.

Sorry...
Yes, good question. Permissions differed in each of my test situations.
1. Guest user had Owner permissions on the entire mailbox.
2. Guest user had Full Control permissions through AD on the Exchange Mailbox.
3. Guest user was part of a group that had Owner permissions on teh entire
mailbox.
4. Guest user was part of a group that had Full Control permissions through
AD on the Exchange Mailbox.

But, it's important to know that I logged on to Outlook 2002, connected to
the same additional mailbox, and did not have this problem. I logged on to
Outlook 2003, connected to the same additional mailbox, and I did have the
problem.
Is anyone able to reproduce it?

Thanks!

Steve
