I read the 2004 discussion on this topic ("More duplicate emails Outlook
2003")and tried some of the suggestions without success.
Since last Wednesday afternoon July 9 Outlook has been downloading
duplicates of all emails received since that date from my POP3 ISP server
every time it checks the inbox - including some that I have completely
deleted from the server via webmail.
This appeared to be connected with an MS Office update that was installed at
that time. I tried uninstalling it, tried and failed to roll back to an
earlier date via System Restore, tried uninstalling Office 2003 and
reinstalling plus just SP3 (i.e. no more recent updates), all to no avail.
Then tried extending the timeout period on my POP3 connection to the
maximumand setting Outlook to delete emails on the server that have been
deleted from the deleted items folder in Outlook. Doesn't seem to make any
difference. (it doesn't delete them)
I have had Outlook set to leave emails on the server ever since I set up the
account a couple of years ago - no problems until now. (I want to be able to
check emails as well as read old emails already downloadedwhen away from home
using other computers without losing the ability to download and store on my
main laptop.)
I have Norton 360 scanning incoming emails but don't know how to stop it
doing that as suggested in one of the earlier posts. Again, this has been
the case for over a year with no problems until now.
I have also turned on the logging feature as suggested in one of the posts
and can post the log if deemed helpful. The file is quite large.
Most grateful for any suggestions.
