Outlook 2003 Email Address AutoComplete stopped working

My email address autocomplete function has stopped working. I've followed the
instructions for repairing a corrupted autocomplete cache file
(http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA011240661033.aspx?pid=CL100626971033);

....also, I've completely reinstalled Office 2003 and performed all updates.
But it still doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

Those instructions rarely work. You need to create a new Outlook profile
from scratch and make sure you are using no add-ins or other software that
prevent Outlook from exiting completely and cleanly.

You would never use import to transfer Outlook data. There is absolutely no
reason your new profile can't use the same data file you use now.

Can you point me to some instructions for how to use the old data file with
the new profile?

You would never use import to transfer Outlook data. There is absolutely no
reason your new profile can't use the same data file you use now.

Already have. We do so daily.
The file you need is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's where all the
mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.

Note that some of the information on these pages is outdated and no longer
applies to Outlook 2003 or 2007. Specifically:
1. Ignore any advice to copy your PST file to Outlook's default location to
connect it to your profile. Doing so only corrupts your profile. Copy it
anywhere BUT the default location and open it within your Outlook profile.
2. Ignore any advice that tells you to use export or import to transfer
Outlook data. That has never been sound advice, but the process has become
too deeply flawed now to be of any use whatsoever.

Good suggestion Russ. That has worked for me in the past as well. Deleting the nk2 file has worked in most cases too. (some instructions say rename it but I always delete it because it recreates itself when you open outlook again). Also check your settings in tools >>options and advanced settings under mail to see if the autocomplete feature is selected.
