Outlook 2003 Emails are randomly Delayed

Chris

Hi,

I'm using Outlook 2003 on a local workgroup running Windows XP Pro and
there's random delayed email issues. The problem is receiving emails are
delayed sometimes up to several hours. I have a POP3 email account setup in
Outlook and when I check webmail the emails are received immediately but for
some reason Outlook wont pull the new emails for up to 6 hours sometimes.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Turn on the troubleshooting logging in Outlook. Do a mail poll. Check
the response from the LIST command sent by Outlook to the mail server.
If a null list is returned (a line that starts with a period character
to mark the end of the list, and that's all you get) then the mail
server is telling the e-mail client that there are no items in the POP
mailbox. If the client gets a null list, it is being told there is
nothing to retrieve. If that's the case, the problem is up on the mail
server. If it wasn't the case, and if LIST included items that were
new, you would see an error message if Outlook couldn't retrieve the new
item(s).
