Outlook 2003 fails to close properly with multiple profiles

This may be a repeat post, but it appears that I "lost" the first attempt. I
have Outlook 2003 with two profiles running on a Sony Vaio (Win XP, SP2, all
Windows and Office Updates installed). I need the two profiles to connect to
email accounts on two different Echange Servers. Each time I exit Outlook, I
find I cannot restart it, either to run the other Profile or just to get back
into the Profile I just left, I find that Outlook has not completely closed,
and I have to go into Task Manager to stop the remaining processes (usually
one instance, but sometimes two). I get warned that this is not a good thing
to do, but once done, I can re-start Outlook. This happens every time...I
cannot restart Outlook until I manually go into Task Manager and kill the
Outlook Processes. I have tried running "Detect and Repair" several times,
but this does not solve the problem.

The most common cause of Outlook not shutting down is an add-in or external application that holds Outlook open. DIsable any COM add-ins you're using in Outlook and check whether you have any PDA synchronization software running or other apps that might be working with Outlook data.

I tried! I found two COM add-ins and disabled them both; don't have any PDA
synch software running (although I do have a Palm desktop installed), but
Hotsynch is not running), and don't know about any other apps that might be
working with Outlook data. Any idea how I might find this (or these) apps?
I restarted Outlook, to no avail. I have also tried rebooting, but the
problem persists. Thanks for any suggestions you may be able to offer!
