Outlook 2003 fails to connect to server

I just installed Office 2003. I set up 3 hotmail accounts and logged
in and downloaded all of the headers from these accounts. Now when I
try to download the messages that I want to read I keep getting a
message "reported error (0x80004005):'Outlook's request to the server
failed. The server responded ".'

I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and always get the
same sequence of errors. If I totally uninstall and reinstall, I will
be able to log in once and get the headers, then I get the same error
message.

Any ideas?
