Outlook 2003 fails to load

M

Mike Schurkin

When I try to start Outlook 2003 (Beta), I get the
following error in a single dialogue box:

"Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Unable to open the
Outlook window. The set of folders could not be opened.
The server is not available. Contact your administrator
if this condition persists."

This started happened after I installed and used the
Analaysis Services for MSSQL 2000.

The first time this happened, I did a repair installation
from the CD, and this worked fine. Each time in use the
Analysis Manager, Outlook stops working. I stopped using
both programs at the same time hoping that this would
solve the issue. However, now Outlook 2003 won't start at
all, even after a Repair or Re-Install.

-----------------------------------------------------------

An update to this issue. If I repair or re-install
Outlook 2003, it sometimes works and sometimes does not.
However, this is short lived, as when I start using the
Analysis Services again, Outlook will not restart if I
shut it down.

In the Analysis Services side... When Outlook stops
working, all Data Cubes refuse to pull data from their
data files. If I attempt to browse any of the data in the
cube, I get an error stating that the data cannot be
found, and the only way to fix it seems to be to re-
install 2003 Office.

It seems to me that a common DLL or resource is sharing
the same connection to a component and I don't think they
get along very well...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
