Outlook 2003 Foreground Issue?

M

MR-KEN

Outlook 2003 Client running on WinXP Pro SP1
Exchange 5.5 SP4 running on Win2K SP4

Once a month or so, OL2K3 will trigger itself in the foreground until
closed.

If you open an e-mail, it will remain behind OL; you would have to minimize
OL to see your e-mail. Other applications also remain behind OL.

Closing and restarting OL2K3 resolves the problem.

Again, this happens so seldom, it isn't a big deal to me. I just wanted to
pass on the info and see if anyone else has experienced this.

Dear Ken,

Thanks for posting here.

Based on my knowledge, this behavior is probably caused by some third-party
software.
It seems sometimes the Outlook is set to be "Always on top". Some
registries change could make this behavior.
In order to narrow down the problem, please help to gather the following
information:

1. Does this problem occur on all the client computers or only on a
particular computer?

2. Boot the XP station in "safe mode with networking" and then try the
Outlook application again.
a. Restart the computer.
b. Keep pressing the F8 key until the Windows Startup menu appears.
c. Select "Safe Mode with Networking" and press Enter.

3. Apply the latest updates for outlook 2003. Please visit the following
link:

I appreciate you taking time to collect the information.
I will standby for your update.

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Jorge Fei

Thanks for the suggestions. Since it seldom happens, I'll wait on the
troubleshooting. I was just curious as to if anyone else had experienced
this.

Thanks again for the quick response!

This problem seems to be related to Trillian V 0.74 w/Patch F (that is the
version I am running anyway).

The problem with Outlook happened this morning, so I closed Trillian and the
problem resolved. I suspected Trillian on a tip from another user that said
that the issue I mentioned didn't happen with Outlook, but did with another
application.
