Outlook 2003 freez with Word as email editor

I have been having problems when using Word as my email editor in Outlook
2003. I have use detect and repair on both Outlook and Word but the basic
problems still pops up. When you try to send a new message or reply to a
message you get a message saying something like "starting word 2003 as your
email editor and it just freezes. Yes I know I don't have to use Word but I
prefer it for editing.

Any thoughts?
