When attempting to close outlook 2003, the window hides (appears to
close outlook)and the outlook process continues to run indefinately.
The original complaint was that the user could only open outlook once
and if closed, would have to reboot their system to open it again. When
right clicking on the outlook icon in the taskbar the message "Outlook
is not responding..." pops up in the bubble window.
I noticed that if I shut it down through task manager, it opens again
normally but still refuses to shut down properly. A complete
uninstall/reinstall was done and I even used all possible outlook
switches from a command line to reset every value to the default.
Opening in any of the 5 safe modes still has the same result (i.e.
/safe1 - 4)).
Also, if I open outlook in debug mode (clicking yes to debug after a
forced shutdown) it appears to run and shutdown properly. Is this a
known bug or should I dig deeper? It seems to me that there must be
some type of hidden window popping up, possibly an exception that is
being hidden by the fact there is no debug information in the
outlook.exe.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kurt
