Outlook 2003 hangs when in contacts

I have 1 user whose Outlook 2003 hangs while in contacts folder.
I have checked task manager and Outlook is using 60 to 80 % of the CPU cycles.
It is possible to go to and use other programs that are running, even start
p[rograms that aren't running. Only Outlook seems to be hung up.

Outlook is connected to an Exchange Server 2003 through a LAN connection.
This user also has a Compaq Ipaq connected through a USB connection. The OS
is XP w/SP2. Office 2003 w/SP2 as well and is current with the latest
patches. This issue began about a week ago.
