outlook 2003 hangs, won't open

I've run Outlook 2003 Academic version (sp2) for a while now. For the past
month, it has been slow to open, often requiring multiple clicks to finally
open it. After opening, it will take longer than reasonable to preview the
selected message. Many times, it will not open at all, although it shows on
my taskbar, task manager doesn't show it in applications and processes shows
it at 0%. On those occasions, I must reboot my system to get it to open at
all.

Anyone else have similar experiences or suggestions or insight?

Run the repair tool, scanpst.exe, on the data file
Is the data file in unicode format or are you using earlier version?
Any AV addins?
