Outlook 2003 - importing old emails

M

Our old computer died and we had a tech guy who exported our old emails from
outlook express. The files are in a DBX format.

We now have a new computer and I imported my old emails that were in the DBX
format into microsoft mail without any problems. But we are trying to put my
husbands into Outlook and it will not work. We've done what all the
instructions say, but it does not work.

Any suggestions on how to upload the old emails and files into Outlook in
office 2003 windows vista?

What instructions? There are no instructions for loading OE files into
Outlook. It can't be done. The two programs have nothing in common. You can
only import OE files into OE. After that you can export the messages into
Outlook.

ok, so if I already have a seperate email set up in Microsoft mail, and these
emails are for another email address do I have to set up a new user on the
computer or will I import all my hubbies emails into my mine? If so then how
do I then get the new emails put into microsoft mail under the new user into
the outlook of the other user?

I was afraid I'd have to do this. Instructions for importing says you can
do some from outlook express but the file type was different.

If you previously had two email accounts in outlook express I assume you
used two identities?
ie your mail was seperate from his mail?

I dont use Windows Mail, but I assume it has the same set up type as OE, so
if you want to use WinMail I'd suggest posting to a Vista group
If however you wish to use Outlook (not OE) your mail has to be available in
win mail before you can export it to OL, then I would guess you logon to the
corect winMail identity and then export that mail to OL

No win mail does not have separate identities, which I hate because I hate
logging off and havign to log on to a new identity, stupid for home use in my
mind. So I'm assuming I need to ask the vista group my question becuase no
one here knows????

I would not expect people here to be familiar with Windows Mail. It has
nothing to do with Outlook, and most people who use Outlook would not be
using Windows Mail.
microsoft. public.windows.vista.mail seems like the logical place to post.

Ok. I'll post there. We are only useing both accounts because of not being
able to have differnet identites. For home use who would want have to aways
log on to a new identy on the computer just to check your email when you are
talking about two adults.

Thanks.

Fascinating. So Windows Mail no longer uses Identities? I did not know that.
I wonder what they were thinking.
