Outlook 2003 is Freezing

I am hopeful that someone may have some hints or have resolved a similar
problem before.

I use Outlook 2003 on a Vista machine. I have had no performance issues
since April but suddenly have issues with Outlook freezing. I have to force a
quit through Task Manager. Sometimes it freezes when downloading new emails
and sometimes when sending them.

Has anyone experienced this before and are you aware of how this can be fixed?

Suggestions welcome.

Which addins do you have installed?
Which account type are you using?
Freezes during Send/Receive sounds like you have a virus scanner that
integrates with Outlook. Disable this integration and try again.
