Outlook 2003 is still working my Hard Disk all the time ???

I'm reposting this hopeful that more people will see it and respond...

Outlook 2003 often keeps my Hard Disk going... It seems to pulse it on and
off, over and over. The noise starts to bother you after awhile... like
dripping water.

I disconnected the Internet and it keeps doing it.

I don't know if it is some kind of housekeeping or what but it only recently
started to do this.

Anybody have any ideas what is going on and how to stop it?
