Outlook 2003 macro security problem

Hi

Using Outlook 2003, SP3

I have an extensive set of Outlook macros which have been working fine for
quite some time, no recent changes. Now Outlook hangs when I open it.

I have:

deleted outcmd.dat - no joy
deleted vbaproject.otm - works OK
opened in safe mode - works OK

The only thing that seems to work and still allow macros is to set macro
security to low.

I have deleted all personal certificates and recreated one using selfcert,
but even if I sign the macro code with it, setting security back to High
causes the same problem.

Any ideas?

If it works in safe mode, then try turning off other add-ins besides VBA.

No COM add-ins, no anti-virus integration. safe:2/3/4 make no difference

There is an "Exchange extensions property pages" listed in the Add-ins
manager, but it is unticked. The only one ticked is Windows CE Support and
unticking it doesn't solve the problem.

If I change security to High then it hangs.

To fix it I have to delete the existing vbaproject.otm, open Outlook, set
security back to low, then put back a copy of my vbaproject.otm

I am pretty sure it is something to do with the certificate.

What about Exchange client extensions? Add-ins hidden from the Add-ins
dialog?

Also, there are several "flavors" of safe mode you can use to try to
pointpoint the problem:
