Thanks for replies
I can mailmerge from Outlook 2002 to Word 2000 by
Collecting recipients in a new contact folder
Setting folder properties to Show This Folder as an Email Address Book
then create a new document in word
and following the mail merge helper
Everything works out OK but I have to have a (dummy) email address for
each recipient in the contact file.

No. You need to do a lot more than that. You need your Outlook and Word
versions to match. So far your message refers to Word 2000, Outlook 2002,
and Outlook 2003. I see no matches here.

Please can anyone help?
I have a xmas card list of contact and addresses in Outlook XP (came
with PDA) that I want to mail merge with Word 2000.
Only those names with email addresses appear in the data list. Do I
really have to enter dummy email addresses for the rest to appear?
