I've not been able to find a solution in Microsoft's Knowledge Base, so
here goes. I'm running:
Windows XP SP2
Office 2003 Standard
I am on the email list for various Microsoft newsletters, and the images
do not always display in Outlook 2003. The "broken image" is displayed
with an "x". It happened again with the latest, "At Home and At Work:
Get your game on".
The mail is authentic and is directed into my Inbox and remains in the
Inbox; is NOT in the junk folder, nor is it pulled from the junk folder.
A few more things:
1. @newsletters.microsoft.com is a Safe Sender in Outlook 2003 Junk Mail
settings
2. http://*.microsoft.com is a Trusted Site in Internet
Options->Security settings. Level is "Medium (default)".
3. I use the preview pane in Outlook for Inbox. But opening the message
to its own full window doesn't help.
4. Banner along the message says "You are now viewing this message in
the Internet Zone". Can I disable that? How? Shouldn't it be a Trusted
Site?
I'm aware of the potential problem of displaying images from unknown
senders. However this is not the case. The email is authentic from
Microsoft.
Oddly enough, if I exit Outlook and launch again, the images will
correctly display-- sometimes, but not always. However when they do
display correctly, they ultimately go back to a "broken image" in time.
I'm guessing there is some custom level security setting that might be
misconfigured. What can I do to get the images to render correctly from
Microsoft?
Thanks for any help.
