Outlook 2003 & Norton 2006

Paul

I just upgraded to NIS 2006 and now Outlook wont save my e-mail account
passwords. Having had two calls to Symantec who have said it is either
Microsoft of my ISP that is the problem, I have given up on further support
from them.

I have tried all of the solutions that have been suggested in earlier
threads and still no joy. Ironic thing is that when I now tuen of NIS,
Personal Firewall, passwords still won't save, but I do know it's because of
Norton.

Any suggestions?..thank you.

Change your options in NIS and don't allow it to scan OUTgoing mail. It is
definitely Norton's fault. Many times it changes the server settings on
incoming and outgoing mail. I uninstalled NIS and went with AVG free from my
service provider instead of renewing an expired subscription. Much less
hassle.

I was hoping I would owe you a pint, but alas...

NIS is now not scanning outgoing mail, but I have seen the little warning
flash up in the bottom RHS to say it is, but changes its mind in an instant
and vanishes, so it doesn't really appear.

I also deleted and added the network locations again, disabled NIS and still
no joy.

I have had to redirect all my addresses through to two e-mail addresses so
now I only have to enter two passwords and not 14.

So many thanks for your suggestion.

Often it is necessary to completely uninstall a Symantec product and
reinstall without the offending options in order to truly disable them.
Were I in your shoes, that's what I'd do.

Thanks for your help. Symantec did advise me to un and reinstall the product
which I did. And you don't get the chance during the installation to choose
which feature to install or not. It is only when it's installed that you can
turn things on or off.

What's killing me is that when I uninstalled, I still had the same problem,
so NIS has somehow affected my Outlook settings.

I feel I might need to repair Outlook if thats possible. Don't know how to
do that yet but am going to have a go.

Thanks again Brian.

Thetre should be a way to perform a custom install. Most other applications
have that ability.

Thanks to all as I give up. I have uninstalled NIS2006 completely on two
occasions. I have detected and repaired my Outlook and still it wont use the
passwords saved in the account profiles. This is definitely due to the NIS
2006 installation.

My last effort will be to report this to Symantec and see what they say.
