Outlook 2003 not terminating execution when closed

Dave

Hi

Does anybody have an idea as to why Outlook 2003 does not actually terminate
when closed? This has only recently started.

I've tried the X Close button, File Exit and Alt F4 but all leave
Outlook.exe running as a Process in Task Manager. The only way to get rid of
it is to "End Process" in Task Manager.

The problem with leaving it running is that it continues to read emails
(spam, etc.) from my ISP's web server, and my weekly backup of Outlook files
fails as they're still locked to Outlook.

Any suggestions would be welcome and a solution, well...?

Many thanks.

Some common reasons why Outlook will not shut down completely when you click either the X or Exit:

1. PDA synchronization software with your PDA in the cradle.
2. WinFax Pro (especially 10.02 in Outlook 2003) - contact their support for an alleged fix.
3. Franklin-Covey Plan Plus!
4. COM Add-ins.
5. Mail reminder add-ins that keep a stub of Outlook open in the background to check for new mail and fire reminders.
6. Anti-virus/firewall programs that are set to scan incoming and outgoing mail.

Fixed thanks. Turned out to be caused by something called "Active Desktop
Calendar", once uninstalled Outlook performed as previously.

Regards.
