Outlook 2003 - Notifications for Certain Folders

I have several questions about notifications. I receive a mixture of emails
each day that range from junk email to very high priority email, and
everything in between. To deal with them, I have created several different
folders in my "Favorite Folders". But several issues have come up since I
created these folders:

1. I receive a new email notification (envelope in the tray) but then when
I maximize Outlook, the new email notification doesn't show up next to the
folder name if it was sent to one of the folders I created. I've checked
several times and the folders ARE set to "Show number of unread items." But
I have to manually go through each folder until a find the new message. What
could be causing this? Like I said, I have checked the folders, and they are
set to "Show number of unread items."

2. I can't get the notification envelope in the tray to disappear UNLESS I
fully open the email - just clicking on it (and then clicking on another
email) in the view panel doesn't make it go away. Instead, I have to double
click it to open the email and then close it before it goes away. Again,
this only applies to emails sent to folders that I have created and not for
the Inbox.

3. When an email comes in and is redirected from the Inbox to another
folder, it leaves a copy of the email in the Inbox and crosses it out. How
can I get Outlook to stop doing this?

4. Is there a way to prevent the new email notification in the tray from
showing up when emails are sent to a specific folder? There are some types
of emails that I don't want to read right away so I send them to a specific
folder (my "Semi-Junk Mail" folder) using the "move to" rule. I get at least
10 of them a day. And each time I see that envelope icon, I have to manually
go through each folder to see where it is and whether it's important - which
totally defeats the purpose of isolating these emails.

Any help with any of these questions would be appreciated.
