Outlook 2003 on top of Office XP

I purchased Office XP earlier this year. After trying the Office 2003
Beta, I really like Outlook 2003. Because I cannot afford to upgrade to
Office 2003 when it goes "retail" in October, I plan on purchasing a
stand-alone copy of Outlook 2003 and installing it over my Office XP
installation.
1) My Office XP is an upgrade version., while a stand-alone copy of Outlook
2003 will be a retail version. Is this a viable choice?
2) How do I accomplish this operation? Will I have to remove Outlook XP
using Office XP setup before I install Outlook 2003, or will I just install
Outlook 2003 over the top of my Office XP installation?
3) Will Outlook 2003 and Office XP both be fully-operational after this?

Donald,

I installed the latest beta(2) of Outlook 2003 about a
month ago on top of my Office XP installation and it
works without any problems. During the install, it
removed my Outlook XP version.

Hope this helps.

Richard.

You'll be able to install over Outlook 2002 but I wouldn't recommend
installing directly over the beta. It might work but I usually just
wipe any beta setup before installing the RTM.

One thing you won't be able to do is use Outlook 2003 with Word 2002.
You'll have to use the Outlook email editor.
