Outlook 2003 out of memory er message

I'm running Outlook 2003, when I installed an external hard drive about six
months ago I started getting an error message that says: Out of memory or
system resources, close some windows or programs and try again, every time I
have an attached JPEG file with an e-mail and try to open the file. I don't
get this message with any other type of attachment. Anyone have any idea how
to fix this problem. I am a novice computer user, please don't speak in
clicks and whistles.
