Outlook 2003 outbox jammed - HELP PLEASE

L

Lin Kypta

I sent an email with a 12 MB tif file attached (by accident). The send
process did start, but did not finish. The Outbox shows 1 file and most
other Outlook operations are badly compromised. I can't find any way to
clear the Outbox. Can anyone please tell me how to get rid of the file stuck
in the outbox?
Many thanks

Never post your real address in a newsgroup.

In Outlook, click File and check "Work Offline". Stop and restart Outlook.
Delete the message frmo the Outbox. Click File and uncheck "Work Offline".

FWIW: The outbox count of "1" disappeared just before I read your comment.
And now the entire load is transfered to the Inbox - at present showing 25
emails from Dameon (mail returned to sender). That observation along with
your comment gives me a MUCH better understanding of what is going on in
Outlook. I think I can use the logic you offered to get rid of the mess
coming into my Inbox or I can just wait it out. It apparently is taking
several days to send that oversized file and bounce it back to me along with
a failure message. And ... it takes about a minute to delete each of the
incoming "returned to sender" during which Outlook is mostly tied up. Wow -
expensive blunder.
And thanks for the tip on email adr - I do appreciate that.

PS You get an A+ from me.

I don't see any unsent email in my Outbox, however in the navigation pane,
beside the name "Outbox" is a "[2]", which makes me think there are two
unsent emails. But the outbox says there are no items to show in this view

Try resetting the view via;
View-> Arrange By-> Custom...-> Reset Current View
