This is a long story, but I'll try to make it brief. I want to connect from
Outlook 2003 (SP1) to My MSN9 Mail account (Dialup), using the Outlook
Connector (I am running Windows XP SP2).
#1. Because I have had so much trouble going from Outlook 2003 to MOOL to
MSN Mail, I tried connecting directly from Outlook 2003 to MSN Mail. No
problem! Works great connects almost 100% of the time, sends and receives
email. Only problem is I can't utilize Calendar and Contacts.
#2. OK, so I download the MOOL and install it and it says it is configured
to connect to my MSN Mail account. Wrong! MOOL will connect to the Calendar
and Contacts Server, but not to the mail server. I consistently get the
message "Outlook Connector for MSN is available only to MSN subscribers. Do
you want to subscribe now?" in the Error Details File.
#3. I have noticed a couple of symptoms. First, when I set up my MSN email
account to work directly from Outlook 2003, I set it up as an HTTP-type
account. Whenever the Outlook Connector is installed, it wants to change the
email account from an HTTP-type, to a MAPI-type. Second, oftentimes when
Outlook Connector is installed, something seizes my dial-up connection and
the only way I can break it is by "Turning off and Restarting" my computer.
Honestly, I have tried about everythting and I've worn-out the MSN Tech
Support Team with this one. Anyone have any ideas?
