Outlook 2003 Plain Text Signature 2nd line no more that 39 charact

When I'm sending my signature in plain text, since that is all we are allowed
to do, the 2nd line seems to be limited to only 39 characters before it looks
for a continuation and grabs the 3rd line. Example below;

my name
Remedy Developer/Administrator (Contractor)
Very long division name (it doesn't matter if I switch lines)
phone
fax
email

will look like
my name
Remedy Developer/Administrator (Contractor) Very long divisionname
phone
fax
email

Change the 2nd line to the following and it works fine.
Remedy Developer/Administrator (Contr)

Am I missing something?
I have looked at the files in the following directory and what ever I change
doesn't seem to fix it.
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Signatures

How did you create this signature? My own preference is to use Notepad.

All I did was create the signature through Outlook > Tools > Options > Mail
Format Tab > Signatures > New. Later on I tried Advanced Edit and that
brought up Word 2003.
When I go to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application
Data\Microsoft\Signature, I can update the rtf file with WordPad or Word. The
txt file is there also and everything seems ok.

When I update a sig file, I usually delete two of the three formats and
update the format I want, letting Outlook recreate the other formats as
needed. That way I need update only one file.
