I love the preview pane feature and rarely open emails in an external
window just to avoid open-window clutter. But one thing that drives me
nuts is that previewing an email with a big attachment can take a long
time to load, proportional to the size of the attachment.
This is especially a hassle when I switch to a different folder which
happens to focus the first email on the list which has a big
attachment, which is usually not even the one I was looking for-- so I
have to wait a while to view an email I didn't even care about!
I can appreciate that for security reasons attachments should be
scanned when opened or executed, but if all that is going to happen is
to show an attachment icon, what is the point of doing this?
Is there any way to stop this from happening (please don't suggest
"don't use the preview pane", that is obviously not what I'm after)?
Microsoft - I have two feature suggestions:
A) stop the above from happening
B) create a tool to allow people to clear out attachments from a set of
emails (specifiable search criteria), while leaving the email text.
this would be hugely useful in controling PST file size-- often i'd
like to clear out emails with big attachments but do not so I can
preserve the email history trail for later audit.
