Outlook 2003 Process Does Not Stop

Lately the Outlook.exe 32* process does not stop so that when I try to start
Outlook again, nothing happens until I end one or more of these processes in
Task manager. Anyone have an idea why this has suddenly occurred. I run Vista
Ultimate on HP laptop and have been going fine with Outlook 2003 for a year.

Does this also happen if you start Outlook in Safe Mode?

Start -> Run: outlook /safe
