I have a user who has a computer in our domain, and has computers at home
that are in a workgroup - the home systems are Vista and XP.
The systems at home - Vista - have intermittent problems when using outlook
--- the user must connect to our domain via VPN client, then they open
Outlook 2003 and they can also access our systems.
What happens is after they open outlook at home, put in their credentials,
they are good - can be 5,10 plus minutes later they get a pop-up that shows
connecting to ### which is our exchange server, they must put in their
password again.
I have the one of the notebooks in the office - the notebook is wireless, it
is in a workgroup, but has a network IP from my domain via dhcp. the only way
that I got it to not prompt me for a password is to check on --- remember my
password. After 4 tests 3 worked - stayed connected, one time I was prompted.
I read on the net that Vista has a problem with when you check on --
remember my password. there is a registry "hack" to burn in your password,
but ---- there are two profiles on this machine - the user must switch
between profiles, so --- I can't burn in a password...
Anyone know why this intermittently happens ? and not with ALL users that
have a system offsite in a workgroup using Vista, this user is the first/only
i heard about with the problem.
Any information on this would be helpful.
Thanks,
Bob
