Outlook 2003 Reading Pane Crash

E

I am using Outlook 2003 SP3, and Windows XP SP2

About half the time when I use Outlook 2003, It will crash when I open
the Reading Pane. I have the Reading Pane set to be viewed on the
Right (View, Reading Pane, Right). When the crash happens, Outlook
will load, and then crash as soon as it tries to view a e-mail in the
Reading Pane.

If Outlook starts in Safe Mode, or with the Reading Pane turned off,
and I double click on an e-mail to view it, Outlook crashes when
trying to display the e-mail.

I have to re-boot to to get Outlook working again.

An interesting side effect is when Outlook crashes, so does IE. IE
crashes before any windows open. But if Outlook is working, so does
IE.

Things I have tried:
1) Run scanpst.exe
2) Rename outcmd.dat to outcmd.bak

No change in Outlook for either 1 or 2.

Thanks
Eric

Also, sometimes Outlook will crash on exit, when the Reading Pane is
working. I can read all my e-mails in the right reading pane, but
when I exit Outlook, Outlook will crash. On these occasions, IE will
also crash on exit. IE opens and I can browse to any web site, but
when I exit IE, it will crash.
