Outlook 2003 refuse to restart!!!

I opened Outlook 2003... happily... then I closed Outlook.
Outlook stays at the taskbar.
I tried to reopen Outlook by:
1) Clicking on the taskbar icon.
2) Clicking on the program shortcut.
All attempts failed. Only solution was to Ctrl-Alt-Del, end process
"OUTLOOK.exe" and restart Outlook

Error ballon appears when clicking on taskbar icon:
"Outlook is not responding. If you are using an Exchange server e-mail
account, you can cancel pending server requests by clicking the Outlook icon
in the notifications area, and then clicking Cancel Server Request on the
shortcut menu."

** There is no Exchange service configured **

Looks like it's configured for Exchange. Have you tried deleting and
recreating the profile?

Done that several times... doesn't seem to help

Have you gone into the properties of the current profile to doublecheck that
there is no connection to Exchange?

yes, checked Control Panel and Outlook Email Accounts... only 1 pop/smtp
account created

Are there any Add-Ins that might trick Outlook into thinking there should be
an Exchange service? Have you checked Tools, Options, Mail Services to see
that Exchange is not indicated?

SOLUTION!!!
1) Backup current "Personal Folder" to .pst.
2) Delete profile and recreate one.
3) Reload backup .pst

!!!Thanks for all the help and attention!!!

Remarks:
1) Did not require reinstall of Outlook.
2) This is not due to "corrupt pst".
3) Problem might be due to upgrading from 2002 to 2003 directly. ie, 2002
was not first uninstalled. 2003 installed fresh in the system did not
encounter such problems.

Finally, I can rest and leave the Task Manager alone....

It should be perfectly OK to install Outlook 2003 without uninstalling
Outlook 2002.
