Outlook 2003 reversing first and last names in contacts directory

I recently switched from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2003, importing my list of
contacts. Outlook 2003 reverses the first and last name for contacts that I
add to my contact list. Hence, if I add a entry for "John Smith", rather than
sort by "Smith, John", Outlook is sorting by "John, Smith", treating "John"
as the last name and "Smith" as the first name. My old entries sort by last
name without a problem. Is there a fix for this?

You're post is too unclear to hazard a guess.
You need to state to which view you are referring.
You need to state the preference you set for your Full Name and File As
fields.
