Outlook 2003: Rules executed on inbox emails when new email is sen

Hi,

I am facing this problem with Outlook 2003 runnig Windows XP. I have
configured some rules which are applied when messages are received in inbox.
The strange thing is, the rules are executed first on the old messages and
then the "Send and Recive" is done. The rules are not executed immediately on
the newly received messages, however, this happens only when I send a new
message. Has anybody faced this problem?
