Outlook 2003: Rules to send messages to selected folders

For quite awhile my messages have been going to their correct folders as I
have created a rule for them to do so.

Recently, I started getting duplicate copies of particular messages showing
up folders that I did not (to the best of my knowledge) create a rule to send
them there. So then I created another rule to have those messages sent to the
correct folder. However, now I am getting a duplicate copy of that message in
the correct folder.

Any suggestions on how I can fix this so that I only get one message in the
folder of my choice? Thanks.
