Outlook 2003 runs installer every time it downloads mail

Hi,

I use Outlook 2003, as part of Office 2003 Professional. Yesterday I
installed all of the latest updates from Office Update, and now every time
Outlook starts to download a mail, it runs Windows Installer. A popup
appears, saying that Office is being configured, and then it tells me to
reboot! This constant reconfiguring is ridiculous. Even more ridiculous is
that Outlook reconfiguring itself should require a reboot of my entire PC.

Outlook won't let me read a new mail, or start downloading the next new
one, until I close this Windows Installer popup, and then it starts again
with the next new mail. I've let this installer run several times, and
rebooted, but it does no good: it still runs every time Outlook starts to
download a mail.

Can anyone tell me why Outlook is doing this?
