outlook 2003 saves email as msg

I upgraded from outlook 2000 to outlook 2003. When I save an email to my
desktop and try to open it, an error comes up stating that this is not a
valid win 32 application. Also, the icon is not the normal "envelope", it is
something I don't recognize. Why is this happening? I can save as an HTML
and that works fine.

Thanks,
Gordy
