outlook 2003 sending errors

I've been having problems sending and forwarding emails. When they send, I
get an error or 2, and the emails stay in the outbox...wierd thing is that
they still send...like 3 times! I don't know how to fix this, and there's
nothing wrong with our server. Here's the errors:

Task "email@emailaddress" - Sending reported error (0x800CCC67): The server
responded: 421 Too many concurrent SMTP connections; please try again later

Task "email@emailaddress" - sending reported error (0x800CCC0F): the
connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact
your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).

but like I stated, there's nothing wrong with our server...the emails send
multiple times, but they stay in the outbox and get error messages.

Disable scanning of mail by any antivirus program. Lengthen your server
timeout value on the Advanced tab of your account properties pages, and make
sure your send/receive interval no less than about 10 minutes.

Well, I did that and presto, I was able to send e-mails again. Of course, you
all know what this means.. use Outlook 2003 and you CANNOT have outgoing
virus scanning on at all (mine was trend, another computer was MacAfee, same
result). So one less security measure, one more paid-for computer protection
bites the dust.

Outgoing scanning is pointless. If you had a virus that was going to attach
to the outgoing message, your antivirus's on-access scanner would have
already detected it.

Okay..for us computer dummies out there. How do you turn off the outgoing
virus scan?

Read the documentation that came with your antivirus program.
