Outlook 2003 Set Subject Value, Properties Initial Value is greyed

Hello,

I'm designing a Custom Form and would like to Set the Subject Field initial
value, but for some reason, under the Value Tab in Properties is greyed out.

I placed the Subject Field in a unused page, go to its Properties, then the
Value Tab, but the area where I want to set the Initial is all greyed out.
Does anyone have an idea what I may need to do to free it up? If I use a
User-defined Field, the Initial Value area is fine and I can set an initial
value.

I'm at a loss as to what is creating the conflict?

It's hard to say, given that you didn't say what type of form you're trying to design. Have you looked on the All Fields page?

Hello Sue,

To help clarify, my main custom form was origianally based on the standard
IPM.Contact where I added some user-defined fields, and two Actions: open two
other custom forms; one happens to also be based on the IPM.Contact and other
on IPM.Post standard forms. All three custom forms I publish to my Personal
Forms Library.

I'm basically want to be able to sort by a Conversation where the "Add a
Prospect" and "Post a Comment" is linked to the main custom form. I thought,
if I set the Subject Field initial value in my main Custom form, the
subsequent forms would properly sort, but the Initial Value portion of under
properties is greyed out.

Is their any reason I should not be able to set the Subject Field on a
IPM.Contact.Custom form???

I'm suspecting a security setting or something down those lines that may be
the real issue.

No security setting is involved. In Outlook 2003, the Subject property apparently is linked to the FullName property, but also can be set programmatically, e.g. with code in the Item_Open event handler. However, subsequently changing the FullName property will change the Subject to match.
